Friendly foods for a healthy liver

The liver is an important organ of the body, without it, there will be no detoxification process that helps get rid of unwanted substances from our system.

Friendly foods to the liver can be classified into two categories – those that protect the liver when it carries out detoxification and those that help to boost detoxification.

A good functioning liver greatly helps to promote the level of energy in the body and naturally helps in weight reduction. This tells us how important a role the liver plays in the body. There are important foods that guarantee the proper functioning of the liver when consumed. These foods are very much vital to the health of our livers. They are high in antioxidants, making them very good for the liver. First, we will consider fruits that contain high antioxidant levels. It is interesting to know that the US Department of Agriculture has discovered them to be fruits that are high in antioxidants. These fruits are blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, pink grapefruit, pears and apples and so on and so forth.

Green tea is another food that is very good for the liver because it also contains a high level of antioxidants. It is so placed among the list of foods that improve the liver because it is known to contain a high level of catechin and polyphenols that function with other chemicals to produce high concentration level of oxidation of fat.

“To better improve the proper functioning of the liver, an average consumption of 4 cups of green tea per day is recommended.”

It will be wrong to remove vegetables from the list as they also contain higher levels of antioxidants. Some of these vegetables are carrots, broccoli, spinach, and tomatoes. As for tomatoes, it is known to contain an important anti-cancer agent. This agent is known as lycopene. Knowing that cancer is one most dreaded condition in human’s history that always plague the majority of individuals around the world, it is paramount to make it an important part of our daily diet. For lycopene to act properly, it requires fat, hence a small amount of olive oil will just be sufficient for that purpose.

For efficient functioning of-of the various antioxidants foods, it is recommended to take at least 8 cups of clean water every day to create an enabling environment for the different agents to act. Ensure to keep up with a diet rich in these antioxidant foods for a whole week and remove from your diet anything that contains animal products. Stay away from alcohol, sweet meals and low amount of coffee. In all, from what is discussed so far, the antioxidant foods help to protect the liver.
Next on the list are foods that help to clean up the liver, and the foods on the list that perform this function are peas, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, carrots, garlic just to mention a few. To achieve good results, do ensure to alternate them in your diet. Other important liver cleansing foods are lemon and cayenne. They are well-recognized liver cleansers that can also help in the purification of the liver. Adding a little portion of squeezed lemon and a part of cayenne to a cup of water first thing in the morning is really a good way to start one’s day.

It is our sole duty to care for our individual liver as it is our one important organ that helps in the burning of fat, but it can only perform its function to a high-efficiency level only when we maintain it with the right diet that contains the right nutrient, only then it will function properly and perform its assigned role for our personal health.
